How to Fish: Solo play, platforms and future updates

By CorpusPublished

How to Fish supports solo play and online co-op. You can play without assembling a group, and updated lobbies support up to eight players. Windows, Steam Deck and GeForce NOW are confirmed options. Dazed Games also plans console and Mac releases, but has not supplied a date in its public FAQ.

Is it worth playing alone?

Solo is an official mode on the Steam store. The game asks you to earn money from catches, buy equipment, complete quests and defeat bosses to reach new islands. It also includes trick shots, rare fish collection and gambling with fish.

If that progression interests you, solo play gives you a reason to start. If your main attraction is playing around with friends, consider arranging a session before buying. Enjoyment and completion time depend on how you play; there is no verified universal hour count to promise.

You can change difficulty in the main menu or during a run. The August 24 update added Easy, with 25% less creature health and 50% less creature damage, and Hard, with 25% more of each. Normal retains the original baseline. Easy is an option if combat is stopping you from progressing alone.

Which platforms can play?

PlatformConfirmed position as of September 6, 2026
Windows PCAvailable on Steam. The minimum specification lists Windows 10 or newer, a 64-bit processor and operating system, 8 GB RAM and 1 GB storage.
Steam DeckDazed Games announced Steam Deck Verified status on September 1.
GeForce NOWDazed Games announced availability on September 1.
Native Mac versionPlanned, with no release date in the developer FAQ.
ConsolesPlanned, with no named console list or release date in the developer FAQ.

The September 1 announcement confirms Deck and cloud-streaming support. For console and Mac plans, the Dazed Games FAQ says, "Yes! But we don't know when yet."

That statement does not confirm individual PS5, Xbox or Switch releases. It also supplies no crossplay commitment. Steam Deck support does not establish a native desktop Linux edition, and cloud streaming does not establish a native Mac edition.

Check your regional Steam listing for the current price and full hardware requirements. The developer describes cartoon violence and gambling with fish, without real-money gambling. That description is not a named age classification.

Is the limit four players or eight?

The store description still says one to four players. The newer August 21 patch explicitly added support for eight-player lobbies. Use the updated limit when organizing a group; see joining friends and private lobbies.

When are more islands coming?

Dazed Games has confirmed plans for more content. In the September 4 announcement, the developers said they would begin working on content updates the following week.

That was a planned start of work. The announcement did not give an update release date, island count or list of new bosses. Treat specific dates and expansion details circulating elsewhere as unconfirmed until the developer announces them.
