Aion 2 Battlefield guide: equalized 10v10 PvP and its rewards
NCSOFT / AION 2 official Steam screenshots
TL;DR
- The Battlefield is listed in game as Arena of Tactics: 10 vs 10 under equal conditions. It is the only equalized PvP mode at launch.
- The recorded mode is Odyle Shard Cradle: push the Shard Catalyst into the enemy camp before time runs out.
- A win pays 3,000 Abyss Points and 2 Silver Medals of Merit. Taking part pays 1,000 and 1.
- Creators count three victory rewards a week, per character. Because gear does not matter, every level 45 alt can collect them.
What the Battlefield is
The Battlefield unlocks at level 45, together with the Arena. When you open its window, Anders says you will see it listed as Arena of Tactics. The game describes it as a 10 vs 10 battle under equal conditions, where the rules of each game mode decide the winner.
Equal conditions is the point. Anders says your gear and skills are equalized, which makes this the one PvP mode where your item level does not decide the fight. Grobs calls it your balanced PvP mode.
Creator tip
So, this is the one PvP mode where your item level doesn't decide the fight.
Odyle Shard Cradle
The game data records one Battlefield mode, Odyle Shard Cradle. Its rules:
Push the Shard Catalyst into the enemy camp within the time limit in order to win. If neither team is able to push the Shard Catalyst into the enemy camp, the team that pushed it farthest wins.
Anders describes the launch map as a single map so far, with more promised later.
Queueing
You can queue solo or with a party. Anders warns that a party queue only matches against other full five-player parties.
The Battlefield is not open all day. Anders says it runs only at select times each day, so check it is open before you plan around it.
Rewards and weekly limits
| Result | Abyss Points | Silver Medal of Merit |
|---|---|---|
| Participation | 1,000 | 1 |
| Victory | 3,000 | 2 |
The rewards come from the game data, where participation and victory are separate records. Silver Medals of Merit pay for the Centurion appearance set in the Abyss shop, alongside Abyss Points. The Abyss guide lists the rest of what Abyss Points buy.
Creators describe the weekly limit:
| Weekly limit | Value | Creators |
|---|---|---|
| Victory rewards | 3 | Anders, Grobs, TheWhelps |
| Participation rewards | 3 | Anders |
| Reset | Every Wednesday | Anders |
| Applies to | Each character | Grobs, TheWhelps |
TheWhelps adds that because the mode is equalized, any alt at level 45 can play it.
Grobs treats the three wins as a weekly chore: he lists them next to the Ascension Trial and daily dungeons as things that reset at the end of the week.
What to expect
Anders says some spawn camping problems have been addressed, but most matches he played were one-sided. When a team starts losing, players tend to leave, and that ends any chance of a comeback.
Creator tip
When a team starts losing, players tend to just leave, and that destroys any chance you had of making a comeback.
