How to make Kina in Aion 2: dungeons, alts, gathering and the Market
NCSOFT / AION 2 game art
TL;DR
- The game spells it Kina. Many players and guides write Kinah; it is the same currency.
- Unbound Kina comes from the Odyle Energy Cubes of Expeditions on Normal and Hard. Easy pays bound Kina, which stays on the character that earned it.
- A full Normal clear of Krao Cave pays 200,000 unbound Kina. Hard versions pay 510,000.
- Anders and TheWhelps use alts to run more Expeditions and move the unbound Kina to their main through storage.
- Without spending energy, Aragon gathers gems and sells them, or uses them to craft. Selling on the Market needs the membership.
Kina, bound Kina and Kina (All)
The game has three Kina entries, and the difference decides what you can do with your money.
| Entry | What it is | Where it comes from or goes |
|---|---|---|
| Kina | The tradeable kind | The game's currency for the Market and Kina Chests |
| Kina (Bound) | Cannot be exchanged | Paid by quests, achievements and pass rewards |
| Kina (All) | The total of both | Costs that charge it, such as Substance Morph recipes, spend bound Kina first, then unbound |
So bound Kina is still useful: you can spend it on upgrades and morphs on that character. You just cannot sell with it or send it to another character.
Creator tip
This bound Kinah can still be used for pretty much everything in the game, but you cannot transfer to your main, and you can also not use it in the auction house.
Expeditions pay most of your Kina
Each Expedition boss leaves an Odyle Energy Cube that holds Kina. The table adds up the Kina from all three bosses of one clear, by difficulty. Easy pays bound Kina; Normal and Hard pay unbound Kina.
| Expedition | Easy (bound) | Normal | Hard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Krao Cave | 75,000 | 200,000 | 510,000 |
| Draupnir | 120,000 | 200,000 | 510,000 |
| Urugugu Canyon | 90,000 | 300,000 | 510,000 |
| Vakron Sky Island | 150,000 | 300,000 | 510,000 |
| Fire Temple | 105,000 | 400,000 | 510,000 |
| Ferocious Horn Den | 180,000 | 400,000 | 510,000 |
The final boss of Abyssal Forge: Ludra holds 1,000,000 Kina on its own. Anders reported in September that Hard Conquest dungeons would not be open at launch, so check the Expedition menu before planning around them.
Anders describes the split in Expedition terms: Exploration gives bound Kina and Conquest gives unbound Kina. Aragon's rule is to clear every boss, because the cubes only pay for bosses you kill.
Creator tip
And those conquest expeditions, even though they're just one stars, give you an extra 200,000 Kina here just for killing all the bosses. 100% always do that.
The Expeditions guide covers entry and difficulty in more detail.
Alts multiply your dungeon Kina
Odyle Energy belongs to each character, so every alt can run its own Expeditions. TheWhelps moves the money by putting unbound Kina into server storage on the alt and taking it out on his main. Bound Kina cannot go into storage.
Creator tip
The main use for an alt right now will be to level that alt up, run Krao Cave, the one-star conquest dungeon, and transfer the Kina you gain over to your main character.
Anders's estimate for a free player with three alts is 1.2 million Kina a day: two Krao Cave runs per alt at 200,000 each. That matches the cube values above.
Bound Kina on an alt is not wasted. TheWhelps stores a piece of gear for his alt to upgrade with its own bound Kina, then hands it back. He also points out that the alt needs a reason to exist beyond Kina, such as its own season coins.
Creator tip
So, my conclusion is that one main on sub is enough to keep up, but I recommend at least one out.
Keep the alts on the same server as your main. Grobs explains that many benefits, the membership among them, are shared by the characters on one server, and the official membership notice confirms its benefits apply only to characters on the server where you bought it.
Aragon gets an alt into Conquest dungeons quickly, and expects this to reach about 1,200 item level within a day:
- Reach level 45.
- Finish the regional quests and sealed dungeons.
- Spend your Daevanion points.
- Finish the main story.
- Take the level 45 regional quests for better gear.
Gathering and crafting without energy
If you are out of Odyle Energy, Aragon gathers. Gems sell well because players buy them to level Handicrafting. He checks the price of Sapphire, Ruby and Diamond gemstones on the Market and gathers whichever pays.
Gems Aragon checks on the Market
Creator tip
But keep in mind, your market could be vastly different because it is unique to each server.
He also notes that prices are lower early in the morning, so that is when he buys his own crafting materials. The gathering guide covers the Essence Extraction skills he takes, and the crafting guide covers what the materials make.
Aragon warns against leaving a character farming nodes unattended. He gets bot-check prompts while gathering, and failing them can put your account at risk.
Where Kina goes
Kanon tested the Korean version and found Kina drains fast: enhancing, dismantling and crafting all charge it. The global data shows the same pattern. A few examples of Kina (All) costs in Substance Morph:
| Morph | Kina cost |
|---|---|
| Odyle Energy (Bound) | 50,000 |
| Expedition armor or accessory selection chest | 500,000 |
| Fire Temple weapon selection chest | 2,000,000 |
| Abyssal Bracelet | 5,000,000 |
| Abyssal Forge weapon selection chest | 10,000,000 |
Creator tip
No, Kina absolutely has a lot of value. Monumental value.
Turning Kina into Quna
Unbound Kina can be packed into Kina Chests with Substance Morph and sold to other players for Quna on the Quna Exchange. A 400,000 Kina chest costs 440,000 Kina to make, so the conversion takes a 10% cut. Both the Exchange and the Market need the Special Quai Membership. The pay-to-win guide explains what that means for spenders.
