Aion 2 level 45: what to do first at the level cap

TL;DR
- Your first goal at 45 is 1400 gear score, the entry requirement for Vakron Sky Island. Spend no Odyle Energy before then.
- Finish the main story. Its last quests give the weapon, guard and bracelet you keep for a long time.
- Do every green side quest and sealed dungeon. Each Daevanion point you get adds item level.
- Upgrade the belt and amulet to Unique, equip two Clash Runes at +1 and enhance the weapon, guard and bracelet.
- Then farm Vakron Sky Island with your energy.
Why gear score comes first
At 45 the content you can enter is gated by gear score, your total item level. The gear score guide lists every threshold. The first one worth your energy is 1400, which opens Vakron Sky Island and its item level 70 armor.
Creator tip
The top priority in the early game is: push your Gear Score. You can find your Gear Score right below your level.
TheWhelps, Aragon and NoBS all reached 1400 with little or no energy spent on lower tiers. TheWhelps's reasoning: the story Expedition gear is replaced quickly, so the same energy buys more in tier 2 Conquest.

1. Finish the main story
Wakayashi sees players stall on a quest that sends them to an NPC in the Abyss. Entering the Abyss (Chaotic Lower Reshanta) needs level 45 and 1000 gear score in the game data. Behind it are the last story and Ascension quests, which give you a Unique guard and bracelet to go with the story weapon.
Creator tip
These three items are so important and won't be replaced for so long that you can safely enhance them to +10 without any worries.
TheWhelps agrees on the bracelet, but stops the guard at +5 because Vakron Sky Island drops a guard. The Vakron Guard is item level 70.
If you are short of 1000, equip both Clash Runes from your quest chests. Each is item level 40.
2. Clear the map
TheWhelps calls this "the horizontals": every sealed dungeon (question marks on the map), every stronghold (campfires) and every green side quest. NoBS puts regional quests first, because even the low-level ones give a Daevanion Crystal.
Creator tip
Pretty much the regional quest is the alpha and the omega to reach so high item level so soon.

3. Belt and amulet to Unique
The Noble Belt and Revelation Amulet are slots you never replace, so every creator invests in them first.
Creator tip
There's only one belt in the game. There's no replacement. So don't be scared.
- Enhance the Rare belt to +10 with Noble Belt Enhance Scrolls from strongholds. In the data every belt enhancement succeeds.
- Unequip it and convert it to Epic in Substance Morph. Wakayashi also finds the conversion icon on the item itself once it is +10.
- Take the Epic belt to +10 and convert it to Unique.
- Do the same with the amulet, using Revelation Amulet Enhance Scrolls from turning in feathers at the Monolith.

The amulet matches the belt. All creators stop at Unique +0 for now, because the next enhancement costs climb steeply.
Belt and amulet upgrade path
For the amulet scrolls you need feathers. The Monolith in your main city goes to level 30 in the data. Wakayashi collects until it reaches 30, and TheWhelps says about a third of the feathers on the map is enough.
4. Clash Runes at +1

Wakayashi had many viewers break theirs at +2.
Aragon's rule if you do push further: never upgrade the rune you are wearing. Upgrade a spare, and swap only when the spare is higher.
5. The Spacetime Rift
Every three hours a rift opens to the other faction's map. The timers page shows the next one. Do the rift side quests, then the sealed dungeons and strongholds over there. In the data, those sealed dungeons give Kina, Abyss Points and Enhance Stones instead of Daevanion points. TheWhelps rates the Enhance Stones highly, because you run short of them here.
Wakayashi's warning: guards at the enemy teleporters can kill you in one hit. They only show on the minimap.
6. Small item level top-ups
If you are just short of 1400:

7. Spend energy on Vakron Sky Island
At 1400, open Vakron Sky Island Exploration three times for its guaranteed chest, then run Conquest. Wakayashi farms every armor piece but one and saves the chest for the last missing slot. The data sets the Conquest pity at 21 cube openings.

There is no rush. TheWhelps points out that a subscriber's energy takes five or six days to fill, so you have time to finish the map. If your energy caps first, he runs tier 1 Conquest rather than waste it.
