If you read nothing else, read these. They carry most of the power in AION 2's progression.

Kanon's tipLock in these four habits early; everything else in this handbook builds on them.
  1. 1Two key skills to level 20Some classes get over 60% of their damage from one skill. Push it with Ring lines and Arcana first.Skills
  2. 2Hoard Heroic fragmentsHeroic Transfer Stones are scarce. Skip the first Heroic set and save for the second.Upgrading gear
  3. 3Fish for the rare linesLock in the lowest-chance stat lines first; common lines are easy to reroll later.Stat lines
  4. 4Combat Speed and Double ChanceStack Combat Speed. Double Chance is the best damage stat per point. How damage works

Gear basics

Every piece of gear stacks up to seven layers of stats. The part people learn the hard way is what survives when you transfer an item's progress onto a better piece.

  • Enhancement and AmpUnique gear goes to +15 and Heroic to +20, then 5 Amp levels add orange stats.Enhance StoneConverted on transfer
  • Base statsThe item's fixed stats.Stays with the item
  • Stat linesRandom lines from the slot's pool, strengthened by Soul Binding.Soul CodexKept on transfer
  • Philosopher's lineAn extra stat line once Soul Binding reaches 100%.Philosopher's StoneLost on transfer
  • ManastonesRandom lines on weapon and armor sockets; accessories take Soulstones.Superior ManastoneLost on transfer
  • TheostoneA weapon-only proc worth under 1% of total damage.TheostonesLost on transfer
  • PotentialA PvP-only stat line on the global servers.Potential StoneLost on transfer

A +15 Unique item at Amp 5 becomes a +20 Heroic item at Amp 0.

Kanon's tipSpend Manastones, Theostones and the Philosopher's line only on gear you will keep. They are gone the moment you transfer.

Empyrean Lord stats

Ten bundled stats, each named for an Empyrean Lord and each giving two effects. Kanon calls them Pantheon stats. You get them from the Bracelet, Arcana cards, and the statues and portraits you place in the Pantheon. Game value

Stat lines

Lines are ordered by how rarely they roll, not by damage. Weapon Damage Boost hits harder than Damage Boost, but Damage Boost is rarer, so it sits higher.

Kanon's tipFish for the rare lines first. Never sync a line with a lower-grade stone: it only has a 10% chance to work.

Weapon and Guard share one pool, including active skill lines.

Upgrading gear

Manastone priority

Roll Manastones on weapons and armor and Soulstones on accessories. A yellow Damage Boost line gives 1%, against blue's 0.3%.

Kanon's tipAim for at least one yellow Damage Boost line. Two yellow Attack lines are worth about one yellow Damage Boost line.
  1. 1Front/Back Damage Boost
  2. 2Weapon Damage Boost
  3. 3Critical Damage Boost
  4. 4Damage Boost
  5. 5Attack

Soul Binding in three steps

Bind raises every stat line toward 100% with Soul Codex. At 100%, two Philosopher's Stones add an extra line.

Sync rerolls one line. Reset rerolls them all with Soul Codex: Reset.

Transfer Stone cost

Kanon's tipBe frugal with Heroic Transfer Stones. Skip the first Heroic set, wait for the second, and hoard Heroic fragments early: you need a lot of them later.

By Kanon's count, every Heroic item you dismantle gives 5 Transfer Stone Fragments. Pick what you are transferring to see what one Heroic Transfer Stone costs.

Moving gear onto the same grade takes one Transfer Stone of that grade.

Skills

Active skills level to 10 with Wisdom Stones. Every level above that comes from Ring lines, Arcana and the Daevanion boards. Stigma skills level with Stigma Shards and give all their perks once unlocked.

Perk choices open at seven skill levels and equip slots at 8, 12 and 20. Level 20 is where most builds come online.

Arcana

Arcana cards add an Empyrean Lord stat and up to four stat or skill lines. Global has two sets.

Kanon's tipFor now the card's Empyrean Lord stat matters more than set bonuses. Craft your own cards when you can, and craft the Chalice first because its pool is largest.

Daevanion boards

Nezekan, Zikel, Vaizel and Triniel share one point pool and cannot be maxed. Respeccing is nearly free. Ariel, Marchutan and Yustiel can be completed by farming Conquest and Transcendence dungeons.

Kanon's tipTake key active skill levels first, then the orange corner tiles, then every Attack Bonus tile. Skip Multi-hit Resist on Triniel, Critical Damage Tolerance on Vaizel and the whole Azphel board in PvE: bosses never use them.

Pet Genus

Five Genus boards with nine lines each. Higher Insight opens more lines and rolls higher grades.

Kanon's tipLevel each board's Insight to 10 before locking anything. Then reroll until Line 4 is right on every board. Skip Lines 2 and 8: the crystals are not worth it.

On every board, Lines 1 and 5 want Max Attack, then Attack Bonus. Lines 3, 6 and 9 want Power Shard Bonus, or Critical Hit and Accuracy until you reach the cap. Upgrade in this order: Line 4, Lines 1 and 5, Lines 6 and 9, Line 7, then Lines 2 and 8.

Wings

Wings give stats twice: while equipped, and permanently once you own them. These are the wings from Kanon's list that exist on the global servers, with their global effects.

Kanon's tipWings cannot be enhanced at the global launch, so pick them for their equipped and owned effects for now.
