Aion 2 Chanter guide: playstyle, build and boards
NCSOFT / AION 2 official Steam screenshots
TL;DR
- Chanter is the offensive support: a staff user that fights in melee, has a few ranged skills, buffs the party and adds some healing.
- Creators agree it heals less than Cleric but deals more damage and brings bigger party buffs.
- Your damage revolves around Dark Crush. Ranged skills such as Spinning Strike and Impactful Crush make it available, and you fire it between them.
- Undefeated Mantra is the stigma to level first. It is the party buff groups want a Chanter for.
- Chanter and Cleric work well together, but Undefeated Mantra and the Cleric's Light of Protection do not stack.
Is Chanter right for you?
Pick Chanter if you want to support a group without giving up your own damage.
Creator tip
Do not be fooled by this class being labeled as support. Chanters can for sure deal some serious damage.
| Question | What creators say |
|---|---|
| Role | Solid off healer: less healing than Cleric, more damage and stronger buffs (Society Of Gaming). The offensive support with moderate healing (FRESHY, TheWhelps) |
| Main healer? | Yes for normal dungeons. In hard raids and progression fights, creators expect a Cleric as main healer with the Chanter alongside (Grobs) |
| Positioning | No positional requirement, and ranged skills keep your damage going away from the boss (SywoGG). Still best in melee range, since some key damage skills are melee (Kanon) |
| Difficulty | Medium (Society Of Gaming). Casual-friendly (SywoGG) |
Creator tip
For all the normal dungeons you're going to run, the chanter is completely capable of being the group's healer.
How Chanter plays
Most of your damage comes from a short loop. Dark Crush is a 20m attack that becomes available for a short time after you use Impactful Crush, Spinning Strike, Marchutan's Wrath or Ensnaring Mark.
The Chanter damage loop
Dark Crush20m attack, opened by your other skills
Spinning StrikeHits up to 4 enemies. +15% Critical Damage Boost on hit, stacks twice. Highest damage skill (aLuckyRO)
OnslaughtBasic attack, restores 100 MP. Rank 12: each hit lowers Spinning Strike's cooldown
RecuperationHeals you and party members within 40m, removes debuffs
Kanon sums it up: put these together in a macro and you are "machine gunning your enemy down within three buttons".
Your support side is the stigma mantras:
| Mantra | You | Party |
|---|---|---|
| Undefeated Mantra | PvE Damage Boost, Damage Tolerance | Same, for nearby members |
| Power of the Storm | 20% Combat Speed, 20% lower cooldowns | 20% Combat Speed, 10% lower cooldowns, within 40m |
Anders points out that Assassin and Sorcerer lean on Combat Speed and cooldowns, which is why groups with those classes want a Chanter.
The game data spells out the overlap with Cleric. Undefeated Mantra does not stack with the Damage Boost from Light of Protection; only the higher-level effect applies. Power of the Storm cannot apply while the Cleric's Earth's Blessing is active. TheWhelps and FRESHY both say a Chanter and a Cleric still fit in one party, since the rest of their buffs differ.

Daevanion boards
Chanter has five boards. Each of the first four has one node for each of Chanter's twelve base active skills, so the boards add up to four ranks to every one of them.
| Board | Unlocks at | Crystals |
|---|---|---|
| Nezekan | Level 12 | Daevanion |
| Zikel | Level 20 | Daevanion |
| Vaizel | Level 30 | Daevanion |
| Triniel | Level 40 | Daevanion |
| Azphel (PvP) | Level 45 | Battle |
aLuckyRO takes the speed and damage nodes first, then the skill nodes for Dark Crush, Rushing Smash, Onslaught and Recuperation. The Chanter Daevanion guide shows those nodes on the live boards.
