How to Fish: Lighthouse Keeper's Empty Beer Can quest

Quick steps

1. 1 Get one Beer

   Buy a Beer at its Island 1 purchase point. Pick it up before taking it to the Keeper.

2. 2 Give it to the Lighthouse Keeper

   Bring the Beer to the Lighthouse Keeper for his Quest: bait request.

3. 3 Take the Empty Beer Can

   Claim the offered Empty Beer Can. Handing over the Beer and taking the bait are separate actions.

Where to buy Beer

The Beer marker on Island 1's map shows where to buy it. Pick it up and bring it to the Keeper.

Short on money? The Keeper suggests catching crabs and selling them to him. Spend the money on Beer, then return for his Quest: bait request.

Beer or Empty Beer Can?

Bring a full Beer. The Keeper empties it and offers you the Empty Beer Can as bait for the Spider Crab.

You get the can before fighting the boss. There's no need to hunt for an empty one around the island.

Why won't the Keeper accept it?

Check that you're carrying Beer. His Quest: bait request accepts that item only.

A player must have held the Beer before the Keeper can accept it. If you've brought an untouched item over, pick it up and try again.

Gave him Beer but still have no bait?

Take the Empty Beer Can he's offering. The hand-in and reward are separate interactions, so don't walk away after giving him the Beer.

Once you have the can, you're ready for the next quest.

When do you get the boat?

The Keeper trades his boat for a Spider Crab Shell through his Quest: boat-passage request.

Use your new Empty Beer Can to fish for the Spider Crab, then defeat it for the shell. Finish any active boss encounter first. The can won't summon another boss while one is already active.
