How to Fish island order and progression guide

The main route takes you through five islands. Find your current island below, follow its request, and take the offered reward after handing in the required item. A boss kill alone does not claim the boat, coordinates or final keys.

This is a route through the verified quests. Optional purchases, collecting and side activities can fit around it.

Island 1: earn the boat

The Lighthouse Keeper first wants one Beer. His reward is the Empty Beer Can, used to fish for the Spider Crab.

After defeating the crab, bring back its Spider Crab Shell and claim the boat keys. The Radar beside the Keeper is a separate purchase.

Island 2: reach Island 3

The Swamp Daughter accepts three Leeches for Leech Bait. Use the bait for the Giant Piranha, then exchange its skeleton for the next island's coordinates.

Island 3: catch the Pufferfish

The Pufferfish Hunter accepts any one of seven listed endangered creatures for the Carrot. You do not need to deliver every species. The endangered-creature walkthrough lists the accepted alternatives and how to get one.

Use the Carrot to catch the Pufferfish. Bring its Pufferfish Fin to the Hunter and claim Island 4 coordinates.

Island 4: the Albatross encounter

This encounter has a specific trigger. Leave an unheld Tuna inside the Albatross encounter area while no other boss is active. Picking it up or moving it out of that area interrupts the wait.

Defeat the Albatross, collect its Albatross Head, and hand that trophy to the Seagull Keeper. Take the flash drive to receive Island 5 coordinates.

Island 5: the whale and final departure

Give the Whale Scientist five eligible creatures to receive the Fish Bucket. Repeated species count; this request does not require five different species. Creatures must be dead and have been picked up before the hand-in.

The final encounter involves a dead normal whale entering the volcano trigger unheld, with no active boss. The resulting mutated whale drops the Whale Fin. Give the fin to the Scientist and claim the final keys. Interact with the expedition boat with empty hands and no active boss to finish.

The NPC will not take my item

Check the exact request. A boss trophy and its body are different objects. For the passage quests, bring the Shell, Skeleton, Fin or Head named in the walkthrough. When a request accepts creatures, kill and pick up the catch before offering it.

After a successful hand-in, look for the offered reward and take it. Completing the delivery and claiming that reward are separate steps.

If you cannot summon the next boss, finish the active encounter first. Boss selection and the authored Albatross and whale triggers all have active-boss restrictions. Use the bait guide when the uncertainty is which lure can select your target.

Find shops and optional upgrades

Use the island directory and map for sellers and quest givers. The inventory and equipment guide covers extra slots, attachments, dropped gear and boat motors. Those purchases support the journey; they do not replace the quest reward that advances it.
