How to Fish: Pufferfish Fin and passage to Island 4

Quick steps

1. 1 Catch and defeat the Pufferfish

   Use the Carrot from the endangered-creature request to fish for the Pufferfish. Reel while using this bait, and finish any other active boss encounter first.

2. 2 Collect the Pufferfish Fin

   Pick up one Pufferfish Fin from the defeated boss and bring it to the Pufferfish Hunter.

3. 3 Take the coordinates

   Complete his Quest: island-passage request and claim the offered coordinates for Island 4.

Does the Hunter want another endangered creature?

The endangered-creature request pays out the Carrot. To get the next island's coordinates, bring the Pufferfish Fin instead. The Hunter accepts this boss trophy for passage; a Pufferfish body does not replace it.

You can return to the same Hunter on Island 3 for the hand-in. Pick up the Fin first, since the request checks whether a player has held the item.

Why isn't the Carrot producing a Pufferfish?

The Carrot requires reeling to select its catch. It also cannot select a new boss while another boss encounter is active. Check those conditions before changing bait.

Beat the boss but cannot find Island 4?

The Fin hand-in and coordinate reward are separate actions. If the Hunter is holding the reward, take it. Claiming the coordinates adds Island 4 to your map.
