How to Fish: Endangered creature and Carrot quest

Quick steps

1. 1 Reach the Pufferfish Hunter

   Find the Pufferfish Hunter on Island 3.

2. 2 Bring one accepted catch

   Use one of the seven accepted catches listed below, such as a Bowlfish, Needlefish or Seahorse. The creature must be dead and must have been held by a player.

3. 3 Hand it in and take the Carrot

   Complete the Hunter's Quest: bait request, then take the offered Carrot. Handing over the catch alone does not claim the reward.

Which creature should you bring?

Use an accepted creature you already have. If you need to catch one, check its bait links before buying supplies:

• Bowlfish
• Needlefish
• Seahorse
• Dripper
• Oarfish
• Superdwarf Fish
• Bing Bong

If you are already on Island 3, start by checking Standard Lure, which is sold there and can select Needlefish, Bowlfish or Seahorse. Those give you several eligible targets without needing later-island supplies. The Seahorse has catch associations with both Standard Lure and Professional Lure; you do not need to buy the later lure just because another guide lists it there. The creature page shows the selection shares and links to each bait's acquisition locations.

Why won't the Hunter accept your catch?

The Quest: bait request checks an explicit list of accepted items. A creature's endangered status alone does not qualify it, and a Drip appearance is not a stated requirement.

For an eligible creature, check two conditions before replacing your catch: it must be dead, and it must have been held by a player. Catching a different rare creature will not solve either of those hand-in problems.

Handed it in but have no Carrot?

The exchange has a separate reward-claim action. If you have handed over an accepted catch but do not have the Carrot, return to the Pufferfish Hunter and take the offered bait. You can find him on Island 3's map.

Does the Carrot unlock the next island?

The Carrot is bait for the Pufferfish. Getting it does not itself open Island 4. The Hunter has a separate Quest: island-passage request that accepts the Pufferfish Fin and rewards passage to Island 4.

Keep that Fin for the hand-in. The bait request, boss encounter and island reward are distinct steps; check the passage request if you have beaten the boss but still cannot continue.
