Aion 2 Soul Binding guide: Bind, Sync, Rebind and Soul Fuse

By CorpusPublished

TL;DR

  • Soul Binding gives a piece its random stat lines and can add skill levels. You must Soul Bind gear before you can wear it, and after that it can no longer be traded.
  • There are four actions. Bind raises the lines toward their maximum with Soul Codex. Sync rerolls one line. Rebind rerolls every line. Soul Fuse adds an extra line once the item is 100% bound.
  • Each slot has one or two lines that matter most, such as Move Speed on boots and Combat Speed on gloves. Keep those first.
  • Do not spend on rolling before your tier 3 gear. Gear Transfer carries the lines forward, but Soul Fuse lines are lost.

What Soul Binding is

Every weapon, armor piece and accessory has a pool of possible Soul Binding lines, and a dropped item already shows a random set of them. TheWhelps and Grobs count four lines on dungeon gear, and creators say crafted gear gets one more. The data matches:

You must Soul Bind an item before you can equip it, and the game warns that it can no longer be traded once Soul Binding is complete.

Creator tip

Soul bindings are again just four additional stat lines similar to mana stones, but those are just way more impactful. You can have all kind of different normal stats like MP or evasion on it, but you can also have active and passive abilities on it. So, with those soul bindings you can actually level your skills.

The four actions

All four are on the Soul Binding tab of the Enhancement menu.

ActionWhat it doesWhat it costs
BindRaises the Binding Rate, pushing every line toward its maximum valueSoul Codex (Bound)
SyncRerolls one line you pickA sacrificed item or a Sync Stone (Unique) (Bound)
RebindReplaces every line with new ones3 Soul Codex: Reset (Bound) and 300,000 Kina on the Unique gear we checked
Soul FuseAdds one more line at 100% Binding Rate2 Philosopher's Stone: Revelation (Bound) and 1,000,000 Kina

Bind

Each line rolls somewhere inside a range, and Bind raises it toward the top. Reaching 100% Binding Rate also unlocks an extra Manastone slot, according to the game's text, and opens Soul Fuse. Grobs binds last, after the lines are right.

Creator tip

Usually what you do is first get all the right stats on it, and then at the end you will bind the item.

Sync

Sync changes one line you choose, and Grobs sacrifices another piece of gear to do it. The game says the Sync chance depends on the material's grade and item level, so a low-level piece is a poor material. Kanon's Handbook puts it more bluntly: never sync with a lower-grade item.

The Sync Stone (Unique) comes from the Hard Expedition ceiling rewards and battle passes, and Substance Morph makes one from a Gear Change Voucher.

Rebind

Rebind replaces every line at once, so only use it when a piece has nothing worth keeping. Before rolling, open the Reset tab and click the percentage to see every line the item can roll and its chance.

Soul Fuse

Soul Fuse adds one more slot and binds an effect to it automatically. The game says Soul Fuse effects cannot be transferred, so only fuse gear you will keep. Grobs and TheWhelps did not expect Soul Fuse to be available at the start of Season 1, and the data does not show when Philosopher's Stones become available.

Which lines to keep on each slot

Madsin's rule works for every class: keep the line only that slot can roll first, then the slot's other offensive lines, then your class passives, then Attack, Accuracy and Critical Hit.

Creator tip

Your soul bind priority will be the slot specific stat first.

Madsin · Watch at 15:12

The table lists the offensive and utility lines each slot can roll in the data, with the slot's own line first.

SlotLines to keep
Weapon and guardCombat Speed, Weapon Damage Boost, Damage Boost, Might, Precision, Multi-hit Chance, Attack
HelmDouble Chance, Attack increase
PauldronsCritical Damage Boost, Double Chance
BreastplateDamage Boost, Perfect Chance
GlovesCombat Speed, Perfect Chance
GreavesAttack increase, Perfect Chance, Damage Tolerance
CloakDouble Chance, Attack increase
BootsMove Speed, Perfect Chance
EarringsMove Speed, Might, Precision, passive skills
NecklaceCombat Speed, Might, Precision, passive skills
RingsActive skills, Might, Precision
BraceletDestruction, Wisdom, Illusion, Time

The weapon order is Madsin's. He moves Precision above Might while you are short on Accuracy or Critical Hit. The bracelet rolls Empyrean Lord stats, and Madsin ranks the four above for PvE. Madsin also lists Perfect Chance for the cloak, but the cloak cannot roll it in the data.

Attack increase is a percentage line and is not the same as Attack, the flat line. TheWhelps makes Accuracy his next priority after the slot lines, because bosses parry you without it. See combat stats explained.

Skill lines

SlotsSkill lines they roll
Rings, weapon, guardActive skills
Armor, earrings, necklacePassive skills

Each skill line adds a level, which matters because a skill's third specialty slot opens at level 20. Madsin warns against spending weapon and guard lines on skills, since their stat lines are too valuable, and fills skill gaps with rings instead. The Ranger gear guide shows how this plays out for one class.

When to start rolling

Early gear gets replaced too fast to be worth rolling. TheWhelps starts once he wears tier 3 gear, and even then he does not reroll armor unless a drop already has one of the slot's key lines.

Creator tip

Once you get the gears from tier three, this is where you want to start considering to roll your soul binds to the optimal stats.

TheWhelps · Watch at 14:21

For boots, he would rather swap to a new drop with Move Speed than roll for it, even on a +10 pair. A Gear Transfer moves your work from the old piece onto the new one:

The transfer guide covers the rules and exceptions.
