How to Fish: Albatross fight without dynamite

By CorpusPublished

How to approach the Albatross fight

Bring a ranged weapon and track the Albatross as it circles and dives. Its fight does not require a stack of dynamite. It takes ordinary weapon damage and has no half-health invulnerability phase.

The Albatross has 7,800 HP on Default difficulty with one player and a five-minute timer. The Sniper Rifle, sold on Island 4 for 3,800, is an available ranged option. The SMG is also sold there for 650. Neither is presented here as a tested fastest kill.

How to summon it

Catch a Tuna and release it inside the Albatross encounter area. Leave it there while no other boss is active. Picking it up or taking it out of the area resets the trigger's waiting period.

The bird arrives to eat the Tuna before targeting players. Have your weapon ready before placing it. The Seagull Keeper walkthrough covers the encounter's progression reward.

Read the dives

The Albatross looks for a visible player while near its usual flying height, then approaches that target. Its target checks use a randomized interval of eight to twelve seconds, so do not expect a metronomic dive pattern.

A dive deals melee damage when the bird reaches the player. Its base damage is 45 before difficulty and party scaling. Move to keep space between yourself and its approach rather than standing still to finish a magazine.

Terrain can interrupt its pursuit when the approach is blocked. That supports using nearby cover while repositioning, but does not establish a permanently safe roof or pillar. A bird already close enough to hit can deal damage before abandoning its approach.

Keep moving during projectile volleys

While high enough, the bird fires volleys aimed at every living player. Each volley sends five projectiles per player in quick succession. The interval varies and depends on its altitude.

Keep track of these attacks even when the bird is not diving at you. In co-op, another teammate being the dive target does not stop projectiles being aimed at your position. Moving away from clustered teammates gives you more room to see and avoid the incoming fire.

Do you need explosives?

Dynamite is sold on Island 4, but a large explosive pile is a player strategy rather than a summoning condition or special damage requirement. This guide does not prescribe a stack size or promise a kill before the bird moves.

Use a weapon you can aim reliably at the flying target. If an attempt times out, the boss's timer is the reason it leaves; you do not need to uncover a hidden second phase.

Collect the Head

Pick up the dropped Albatross Head and complete the Seagull Keeper's passage request. A regular seagull does not supply that trophy.
