How to Fish Drip fish: rare catches and collection

Use the target fish's bait list first, then kill the catch to record it in the journal. In How to Fish 1.0.12, ordinary creatures spawned by a fishing rod receive a separate 10% Drip roll. Bosses and minibosses already count for their Drip journal entries when killed. These rules come from the extracted creature and journal logic.

Where to catch the commonly missing fish

The linked bait records show the selection shares and where to obtain each lure. The catch selector does not impose an island requirement on these ordinary fish. Buying a lure on a later island does not mean its ordinary catch pool only works there. See the bait guide for reeling requirements and boss-bait exceptions.

For Seahorse specifically, a more advanced lure is not automatically an upgrade. Standard Lure gives Seahorse a larger share of its pool. That makes it a sensible collection choice, although it does not establish a tested number of catches per minute.

A player question calls a catch "Drip Chod." The extracted creature list has Cod and no separate Chod entry. If you mean Cod, use the row above; the spelling alone is not evidence of another species.

Dripper and Drip are different things

Dripper is a creature's name. Drip is a rare appearance applied to eligible creatures. An ordinary Dripper does not complete its Drip entry simply because of its name; it can also receive the separate Drip roll.

The 10% roll applies after the fishing rod selects an ordinary creature. It does not mean you have a 10% chance of catching a particular Drip species each time you cast. You must first select that species from the bait pool, then receive its Drip variant, then complete the kill. Bait loss, waiting and failed catches are separate from those selection probabilities.

Repeated ordinary catches do not promise that the next one will be Drip. The inspected selection logic has no accumulating guarantee. This explanation is specific to build 25127368, not a claim about every possible creature-spawning method.

What Collector and Fishipedia count

Collector requires the ordinary kill record for every journal creature. Fishipedia requires the Drip record for those entries. The current journal includes 49 creatures, including bosses and minibosses. Both achievements follow the game's journal exclusions rather than every object visible in the world. The creature directory provides their individual records.

A main boss or miniboss kill fills its Drip record automatically. You do not need to find a separate Drip Albatross or a rare final boss for Fishipedia. Ordinary creatures still need their actual Drip variants.

The record is made at death. Merely seeing or hooking a Drip Seahorse does not secure the entry if it escapes alive. Once a kill is recorded, the completion check uses that saved record rather than requiring you to keep every body. Consult the save guide if a previously completed entry is missing after loading.

A practical collection pass

Open the journal and note the missing species before buying supplies. Group ordinary targets by their lure, then work through those groups. Switch to Standard Lure for a missing Seahorse even if Professional Lure is already available. Keep boss and miniboss progression on a separate checklist because those kills also complete their Drip records.

After a rare catch, confirm its journal entry. If the entry did not change, first check whether you killed the creature and whether it was actually Drip. For the remaining achievement conditions, see the achievement guide.
