Aion 2 Spiritmaster PvE build: skills, stigmas and macro
NCSOFT / AION 2 official Steam screenshots
TL;DR
- Rank Elemental Fusion and Combustion toward 20. Cold Shock, Dimensional Control and Jointstrike: Curse need rank 12.
- Skill rank adds very little damage. You rank a skill to open its specialty slots at ranks 8, 12 and 20.
- Stigmas: Summon: Ancient Spirit, Jointstrike: Corrode and Flame Blessing. Push Ancient Spirit to rank 15 first.
- Level Spirit Strike before any other passive. Leave the Critical Hit passives until your Critical Hit is high.
- Rotation: buff, summon the Ancient Spirit, cast Elemental Fusion whenever you have Four Elements, and cycle spirits to rebuild elements.
How skill ranks work
Every active skill has five specialties but only three slots. These are the ranks that change how a skill plays:
| Rank | Opens |
|---|---|
| 8 | First slot, three specialties to choose from |
| 12 | Second slot and the fourth specialty |
| 16 | Fifth specialty |
| 20 | Third slot |
Creator tip
In Aion 2, skill level is only for using specialty.
Storyteller reaches rank 20 on Elemental Fusion and Combustion this way. Ranking a skill past the rank you need for its specialties is, in his words, "a totally waste".
| Rank source | Ranks |
|---|---|
| Skill points | Up to rank 10 |
| Daevanion boards | +4 |
| Rings | +2 |
| Arcana | +4 |
Skill points get more expensive as you go:
| Ranks | Skill points per rank |
|---|---|
| 2 to 4 | 1 |
| 5 to 7 | 2 |
| 8 to 10 | 4 |
aLuckyRO's tip is to use a nearby Daevanion skill node for the last rank or two before a breakpoint and spend the saved points on another skill. The Spiritmaster Daevanion guide shows where those nodes are.
Active skills and specialties
Each note gives the rank to aim for and the specialties to slot. aLuckyRO's guide was made for the global launch. Storyteller's picks come from his Spiritmaster main. Where they disagree, both picks are shown.
Spiritmaster active skills, in rank priority
Elemental FusionRank 20: extra damage on hit, +10 all Element Boost, 25% chance to regain Four Elements
CombustionRank 20: fewer-targets damage, +20% Skill Speed and the Ashy Call chain skill. Take -20% MP while your MP is low
Cold ShockRank 12: +2% Attack stacks with +20% MP restored or +50% Multi-Hit
Dimensional ControlRank 12: extra damage on hit and +50% Multi-Hit
Jointstrike: CurseRank 12: -2s cooldown with +2s Curse duration or the mobile version
Summon: Water SpiritaLuckyRO: 10% skill activation chance. Storyteller: +10% Attack, then +20% stats at rank 16
Summon: Fire SpiritaLuckyRO: 10% skill activation chance. Storyteller: +20% Critical Hit damage, then +20% stats at rank 16
Summon: Earth SpiritRank 12: 10% skill activation chance, then 5% chance to restore Spirit HP
Summon: Wind SpiritLeveling only: 10% skill activation chance
DefianceRank 8: restore 20% HP on use
Elemental Fusion is your highest damage skill and has no cooldown of its own. You can cast it any time you have Four Elements, so aLuckyRO keeps it on your main bar and casts it the moment it lights up. Both creators want it at rank 20 for its third specialty slot.
Combustion is your other rank 20 skill. Cold Shock is the skill you cast most, and aLuckyRO calls it his number one priority. The creators' specialties:
| Skill | aLuckyRO | Storyteller |
|---|---|---|
| Combustion | -20% MP consumed, swapped for Skill Speed once your MP pool has grown, about a week in. Swap back if MP runs short | Fewer-targets bonus, +20% Skill Speed, Ashy Call chain skill |
| Cold Shock | +2% Attack stacks with +20% MP restored early, +50% Multi-Hit at rank 20 | +2% Attack stacks and Multi-Hit. Does not take it to 20 |
Dimensional Control becomes available each time a spirit uses its skill. Both guides take the delayed extra damage and +50% Multi-Hit, and aLuckyRO notes the delayed damage matters most in long boss fights. For Jointstrike: Curse, both take the shorter cooldown. Storyteller skips the specialty that ignores Block and Evasion, because he says it only applies to the hit and not to the Curse damage over time.
Spirits
Each spirit skill use gives you an element toward Elemental Fusion.
| Spirit | Chance to use its skill when an attack lands |
|---|---|
| Fire, Water | 15% |
| Earth, Wind | 10% |
aLuckyRO takes the 10% skill activation specialty on his spirits for this reason: more spirit skills mean more Elemental Fusion casts. Storyteller instead takes the Attack or Critical Hit specialty plus +20% spirit stats on the Fire and Water Spirits.
Creator tip
Trust me, without Water Spirit, you have wild mana problem.
aLuckyRO uses Summon: Wind Spirit only while leveling. Early on, your spirits attack slowly and you need four summons to reach four elements. Once your Combat Speed rises, three summons are enough. When Elemental Fusion lights up after Water, Fire and Earth, he drops Wind from the bar. Storyteller does not use it in PvE.
Skip Soul's Cry for PvE; both creators call it a PvP skill. Rapid Scattershot only hits staggered targets. aLuckyRO keeps it for bosses with HP or MP absorb, and Storyteller does not use it.
Stigmas
Stigmas level separately with stigma points and gain a new effect at ranks 5, 10, 15 and 20. You do not choose these effects; each rank unlocks the next one. aLuckyRO notes that global has four stigma slots.
Spiritmaster PvE stigmas
Summon: Ancient SpiritRank 15: skill every 5 basic attacks instead of 7
Jointstrike: CorrodeCorrode: +10% damage taken from your Spirit. Rank 5 adds 15% more
Flame Blessing50% chance of extra damage on hit. Ranks 5 to 15 add Accuracy, Critical Hit and Critical Damage Boost
Cursed CloudaLuckyRO's pick once you are past the early game
Summon: Ancient Spirit is the core of the build. It grants Four Elements each time it uses its skill, which it does on summon and then:
| Ancient Spirit rank | Skill use |
|---|---|
| Below 15 | After every 7 basic attacks |
| 15 | After every 5 basic attacks. aLuckyRO's first stigma goal |
Creator tip
I don't need to wait for stacks. I spawn the Ancient Spirit and I have Elemental Fusion up.
The Ancient Spirit lasts 30 seconds. Anders puts its cooldown at a minute and a half; the game data does not list the cooldown.
aLuckyRO and Storyteller both rank Jointstrike: Corrode and Flame Blessing next. Corrode raises the damage your spirits deal to the target, and Flame Blessing is your personal damage buff. For the fourth slot, aLuckyRO suggests Cursed Cloud for the mid and late game. Storyteller rates Jointstrike: Destructive Attack as less important than the three above. aLuckyRO treats Kaisinel's Power, Siphon, Cry of Terror, Seize Magic, Magic Block and Assault Terror as PvP stigmas.
Passives
Both creators put Spirit Strike first. The order after that differs:
| Creator | After Spirit Strike |
|---|---|
| aLuckyRO | Spirit's Descent, Spirit Protection, Spirit Revitalization, Consecutive Countercurrent |
| Storyteller | Mental Focus, Element Unification, Spirit Revitalization |
Spiritmaster PvE passives
Spirit StrikeFirst for both. You and your spirits: 45% PvE Damage Boost and 16% Perfect Chance at rank 40
Spirit's DescentChance of extra damage for 10s after a summon, 30s after an Ancient Spirit
Spirit ProtectionaLuckyRO's third
Spirit RevitalizationBoth creators
Consecutive CountercurrentaLuckyRO's fifth
Mental FocusStoryteller's second, for Double Chance. aLuckyRO calls it PvP
Element UnificationCritical Damage Boost only. aLuckyRO waits for 800 to 1,000 Critical Hit
CorrodeaLuckyRO waits for 800 to 1,000 Critical Hit
Element Unification only adds Critical Damage Boost, so it does little while you rarely land critical hits. Spirit Communion and Revitalization Contract can wait.
Rotation and macro
aLuckyRO asks new players to play the first week without a macro so they learn when each spirit and buff comes up. Storyteller's macro setup is built for comfort over maximum damage.
Buff
Cast Flame Blessing and your other buffs before the spirits come out. Anders warns that summoning before your buffs are up costs a lot of damage.
Ancient Spirit
Summon the Ancient Spirit whenever it is ready. aLuckyRO opens every fight with it.
Elemental Fusion
Cast Elemental Fusion as soon as you have Four Elements, and again each time the Ancient Spirit uses its skill.
Cycle and fill
Summon your elemental spirits to rebuild elements. Fill the gaps with Cold Shock, Combustion, Dimensional Control and Jointstrike: Curse.
Storyteller puts two rows in the in-game macro: one built around Dimensional Control and one around the spirit summons. Cold Shock and Elemental Fusion sit on their own keys, and he presses Elemental Fusion repeatedly so it fires whenever it is ready. The only skill he casts by hand during the fight is the Ancient Spirit.
Creator tip
When Ancient Spirit cooldown restore, then using it manually. Then done.
