Aion 2 Daevanion guide: how the boards work and what to take first

By CorpusPublished

TL;DR

  • Every class has the same five boards. Nezekan opens at level 12, Zikel at 20, Vaizel at 30 and Triniel at 40. Azphel, the PvP board, opens at 45.
  • The first four boards cost Daevanion Crystals. Azphel costs Battle Crystals.
  • Orange nodes are the big ones. Take the offensive ones first: Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction, Damage Boost, Critical Damage Boost and Multi-Hit Chance.
  • Then take the blue nodes for the active skills your build uses, then green passive nodes, then white Attack and Critical Hit nodes.
  • Each of the four PvE boards adds one rank to every active skill. That is how skills get past rank 10, the cap for Skill Points.
  • TheWhelps and Kanon both say resets are cheap, so you don't need to get the route perfect the first time.

What the boards are

Daevanion is the growth board in the main menu. You spend a crystal on a node to take its stat or skill rank, and each node has to connect to one you already have. The menu opens during the main story:

ElyosQuest: Visions in Smoke
AsmodianQuest: Urgent Pursuit

The node counts include each board's free starting node. All eight classes get the same layout of stat nodes. Only the skill nodes differ, because each class has its own skills.

Filling the four PvE boards takes 570 Daevanion Crystals. Kanon says the boards cannot be maxed. TheWhelps expects to fill most of each board eventually and leave only the nodes he doesn't need. Either way, the order you take nodes in matters more than the final shape.

Where crystals come from

The game lists leveling up, Regional Quests, the Festival Shop and the Monolith as sources of Daevanion Crystals.

SywoGG points out that strongholds and Sealed Dungeons at level 45 add a lot of board power over time.

Node colours

ColourWhat it givesCrystal cost
OrangeA large stat, such as 1.5% Combat Speed4
Blue+1 rank to one active skill3
Green+1 rank to one passive skill2
WhiteA small stat, such as 3 Attack, 5 Critical Hit or 100 HP1

Each PvE board has twelve blue nodes, one for each of your class's twelve base active skills, and ten green passive nodes. Skill Points take an active skill to rank 10. The four boards add up to four more ranks, and gear lines and Arcana add the rest. The skills and Stigma guide explains why ranks 12, 16 and 20 matter.

The orange nodes on each board

The orange nodes sit in the corners and are the same for every class. Half of them are offensive and half defensive.

Nezekan2 Combat Speed, 2 Cooldown ReductionNone
Zikel2 Damage Boost2 Damage Tolerance
Vaizel2 Critical Damage Boost2 Critical Damage Tolerance
Triniel3 Multi-Hit Chance3 Multi-Hit Resist
Azphel4 PvP Damage Boost4 PvP Damage Tolerance

Kanon skips Multi-Hit Resist on Triniel, Critical Damage Tolerance on Vaizel and the whole Azphel board for PvE, because bosses don't use the stats they defend against.

Nezekan board: the four orange corner nodes

This is the Cleric board, but the corners are in the same place for every class. Open your own class in the Daevanion planner to plot a route and see the stat totals.

The order to fill them

The creators we checked follow the same broad order.

Creator tip

The general rule is important orange nodes first, then blue nodes for active skills, then green nodes for important passive skills, then white nodes for offensive PvE stats.

  1. Key active skills. TheWhelps puts your main active skills first, because rank 12 opens their second specialty slot. With rank 10 from Skill Points, two board nodes get you there.
  2. Offensive orange nodes. Take the skill nodes along the way instead of looking for a perfect route.
  3. Passives and white offensive nodes. Attack and Critical Hit, plus the passives your build uses.
  4. Defensive nodes. TheWhelps takes Defense, HP and Critical Hit Resist last, and routes around Max MP nodes where he can.

Kanon's order is close to this: key active skill ranks, then the orange corners, then every Attack node.

If you're new and don't know your build yet, SywoGG's advice is to click an orange corner node and let the game path you there.

Creator tip

Generally speaking, you want to go for the yellow nodes at the corners of the board. And then as you learn which skills and skill perks and passives you need, you can create your own route.

And resetting the board is really cheap.

Your class's boards

Class Daevanion guides number the exact nodes to take on each board. For classes without one yet, the planner has every board and the class build covers which skills to push.
